She bit down on the breadstick with a loud crunch. After chewing and then swallowing in almost the same motion she put the rest of the bread stick on her plate and gave Chris her full attention. "No circumstances exist that would make me give up my career, McCall. At least none of my own devising, anyway. This isn't just a day job; being a cop is who I am. Without my job I don't know what" She broke off, and her gaze slid away from his. She picked up the breadstick and became very interested in chewing once again. |

"Shoot-outs don't happen every night. In fact, they're quite rarethough with this gun problem we've been having, I'm afraid they'll be on the increase. These damn kids keep turning up with guns from all over the place, and we can't figure out where they're getting them. They're starting to sell drugs, choose up sides, take territory. I don't like what's happening one bit." She shrugged. "Once Lou and I discover who's behind the guns and who's tipping these kids off as to where to find illegal substances, we'll put the guy away for a long time, and Lakeview will be a safer place." |

"Of course. This is a midsized town with a small-town flavor. We want to keep it that way. Unfortunately, someone's figured out we're far enough |
